Entry Process

Entry into all music groups other than the Training Band is via audition. Elementary Strings requires approximately 3 months of prior private tuition.

Existing students will receive an email in Term 3 with a link to re-enrol for the following year which needs to be submitted online.

New students that start at SINPS during the year, after the ensembles have started rehearsing, and have prior music experience are welcome to audition for the Strings or Band groups at anytime.

Instrument Hire

The school has a limited number of the following instruments available for hire to encourage beginners.

Baritone Horn (like a small tuba)
Tenor Saxophones
Trombones
Trumpets
Euphoniums (like a small tuba)
Bass Clarinets
Alto Saxophones
¾ size Tuba
Violins

For band instruments, priority is given to members of the Training Band, followed by Junior then Senior Concert Band.

Weekly Rehearsals

Weekly rehearsals are pivotal to the success of each group, and the need for parental support of these rehearsals cannot be overstated.

Due to child protection requirements, it is essential that a parent helper attends each rehearsal session to assist the conductor and to act as a liaison person between the students, parents and school staff.

Parent rosters are set and every parent is expected to commit to supporting this program. Parents who are unable to attend may be required to pay a fee that will exempt them from rostered duties. We operate as a cooperative so it's essential that everyone in the program makes a contribution for the program to work.
